Job Title:Full Time Assistant Greenkeeper Reporting to: Greenkeeper in charge (Seasonal 6 Month Contract - with a view to permanent employment depending upon performance and staff levels at the end of the initial period)


Job Purpose:To work together to maintain the golf course to a high standard, taking shared accountability for the responsibilities of the role, all in line with Ryton Golf Club’s values of professionalism, integrity and team work.


Having the energy and confidence to converse with customers whilst working in a demanding environment,dictated by weather conditions and player demand,to ensure that the course conditions are maintained and exceeded without exception.


The Role & Responsibilities

•Monitor and Maintain health & safety and security in the workplace

•Switching and brushing

•Mowing banks, Mowing rough, Mowing semi rough, Mowing surrounds and approaches, Mowing tees, Mowing greens, Mowing fairways

•Scarifying/verticutting turf

•Aerating turf

•Applying nutrition & top dressing

•Repairing divots

•Irrigating turf

•Identifying and controlling weeds, pests and turf diseases and/or disorders.

•Establishing turf and preparing ground for that process

•Marking of hazards, out of bounds and ground under repair

•Moving tee markers

•Maintaining bunkers on a daily basis.

•Maintaining golf course furniture

•Changing holes

•Rolling turf

•Driving a tractor with implements

•Undertaking routine machine maintenance

•Preparing machinery for use

•Preparing machinery for storage

•Measuring green speed and interpreting the results

•Adhering to the rules of golf relating to golf course maintenance


Key skills & Requirements:

•Proven experience as a Greenkeeper

•PA1, PA2, PA6 & NVQ certificates an advantage

•Good and effective communication skills

•Ability to work as part of a team and take instruction from the Green Keeper in charge.

 •Ability to drive machinery and handle equipment associated with the role.

•Ability to identify problems and report accordingly
