Despite getting a bit damp, the ladies enjoyed a great Lady Captain's day on Sunday August 6th, playing joker stableford with double points on all par 3s as well as one additional joker hole. There was also a tricky putting competition as well as a nearest the pin competition on the 18th, and longest drives on the 13th hole for both silver and bronze categories. The halfway house kept everyone fed and watered, too.
The raffle held in aid of the Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter raised £164.00, so thanks to everyone who bought tickets; there is a list of prize winners on the noticeboard on the stairs and prizes can be collected from the bar / office.
The winners are:
1st Linda Etherington-Tait, 52 points
2nd Claire Miller, 47 points over the back 6 from
3rd Fiona Hartley, 47 points.
The putting competition was won by Sarah Bendelow with 28 putts; she also won the longest drive (silver) with Kath Stavers winning the longest drive (bronze). Bev Wears won the prize for nearest the pin on the 18th (finishing less than 3 feet from the pin!), having also won the captain's drive in earlier in the day.
