A warm welcome to the ladies section of Ryton Golf Club. We are a small and friendly section whose ages range from the teens and mid-twenties to the more elderly and with handicaps ranging from single figure golfers to the higher handicappers. Everyone mixes in together and our ethos is to never leave anyone out!
We play the majority of our competitions at the weekends, generally either on the Saturday or the Sunday (and sometimes both), and non-working ladies regularly play social golf on Tuesday mornings. Cup competitions include singles knock-out stroke and matchplay, pairs (foursomes and greensomes), medal and stableford singles and better-ball competitions. We have a good social calendar too, as well as fun competitions during the year.
The section fields a handicap team playing afternoon matches and a scratch team playing evening matches against other teams in County Durham, as well as national and EWGA competitions. We are pleased to announce that in 2013, these teams will be sponsored by Persimmon Homes. In addition, friendly matches are organised against local teams, alternating 'home' and 'away' on an annual basis.
We have equality in terms of membership and playing times with the men, so ladies can choose to play in the morning or in the afternoon, depending on the type of competition being played. We hope to see you on the course or in the ladies locker room sometime soon!
The ladies captain for 2012/2013 is Mrs Barbara Healy - tel. 0191 286 8840; the ladies secretary is Mrs Judith Doran - tel. 01207 542115. Feel free to contact either of these ladies if you would like more information on the ladies section of Ryton Golf Club.
